Why UK Podiatrists Need More From AI Than Just Faster Clinical Notes

AI scribes are quickly finding their way into podiatry clinics across the UK.
The appeal is obvious. Less time writing clinical notes. Faster documentation. Fewer evenings spent finishing admin after the last patient has gone home.
But there is a bigger opportunity being missed.

But then the patient goes home.
Can they remember exactly what exercises they were prescribed?
Do they understand how much activity is appropriate?
Can they remember the footwear advice?
Do they know what improvement should look like over the next six weeks?
Can they see whether their strength and function are actually improving?
The answers to these questions can have far more influence on the final outcome than how quickly the clinical note was written.
This is why the next generation of AI for podiatrists needs to extend beyond documentation.
What Happens After the Patient Leaves Matters
Whether you are managing Achilles tendinopathy, plantar heel pain, running injuries or another musculoskeletal presentation, much of the treatment takes place outside the clinic.
The patient has to follow the plan.
That is where traditional healthcare technology often falls short.
Important clinical information is captured beautifully inside the patient's notes, but the patient never sees it.
Exercises may be sent through another platform.
Advice is delivered verbally.
Goals are discussed once and then forgotten.
Outcome measures remain buried in the clinical record.
The practitioner has a clear picture of the treatment plan.
The patient often has fragments of it.
